Balikpapan, 16 August 2023 - The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and the Indonesian Internet Domain Name Registry (PANDI) agreed to cooperate in supporting domain.id as Indonesia's digital identity through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding which was held in Balikpapan on Wednesday (16/8) /2023). The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding was carried out by the Chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Arsjad Rasjid, and the Chairman of PANDI, John Sihar Simanjuntak witnessed by Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and PANDI officials.

On this occasion, the Chairperson of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce, Arsjad Rasjid, said that the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is ready to support the .id domain so that all members of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce must use it. "I invite all members of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry to use the .id domain as their digital identity in an effort to promote the advancement of Indonesia's digital identity. I hope that this collaboration can be implemented properly in order to provide benefits for members of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry," hoped Arsjad.

Deputy Chairperson for Communication and Information, Firlie Ganinduto, said that the collaboration between Kadin Indonesia and PANDI in supporting the .id domain as Indonesia's digital identity is an important step in accelerating the process of digitizing MSMEs in Indonesia. By using the .id domain, MSMEs will have easier, credible and affordable access to the digital market, especially through websites. The .id domain is not only an online address, but also a real representation of Indonesian identity in cyberspace. Through this step, we hope that MSMEs can be more easily recognized and accessed by local and international consumers, thereby supporting Indonesia's economic growth more broadly.

Furthermore, the Chairperson of PANDI John Sihar Simanjuntak explained that this collaboration would later also include other collaborations such as outreach, training or seminars in utilizing the .id domain name. "Apart from using the .id domain name as a digital identity for members of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, this collaboration also includes outreach/training/seminar on how to create a website/email using the .id domain, using the s.id platform in every Kadin Indonesia activity and involving Kadin Indonesia is one of the stakeholders in the Indonesian domain name," explained John.

John also explained that the use of the .id domain as Indonesia's digital identity is expected to be able to support Indonesia's internet sovereignty. "The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding was also carried out within the IKN environment and close to the commemoration of the 78th Indonesian Independence Day as a symbol of commitment to using the .id domain in supporting Indonesia's Internet Sovereignty and also the Sovereignty of the Indonesian people," explained John.

The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding was also witnessed and attended by the Head of the Indonesian Capital City Authority (IKN) Bambang Susantono, the Governor of East Kalimantan Dr. Ir. H. Isran Noor, M.Sc., all Indonesian Kadin officials and also all PANDI officials who were present. The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding was then closed with a group photo between Kadin Indonesia and PANDI.
