Jakarta (31/1) – Indonesia Internet Domain Name Registry (PANDI) held a press conference regarding performance in 2023. This press conference was held on Wednesday (31/01/2024) at Titik Temu Coffee, SCBD, Jakarta. On this occasion, John Sihar Simanjuntak as President of PANDI stated that in 2023 Domain .id will experience quite significant growth.

"The number of .id domain names is currently still the highest in Southeast Asia with a total of 951,421 domain names as of 31 December 2023 or an increase of 31% compared to the number of domain names in 2022 of 726,305. The biggest increase occurred in the number of BIZ.ID domain users with an increase of 511% from the previous 18,846 in 2022 to 96,218 in 2023, followed by the number of MY.ID domain names which increased by around 33% from the previous 279,576 in 2022 to 372,628 in in 2023," explained John.

Furthermore, John also explained that the increase in the BIZ.ID domain was proof of PANDI's support for MSMEs. "PANDI always supports the 30 million MSME Go Digital program in Indonesia and the growth of the digital economy through the use of the .id domain by MSMEs in Indonesia," explained John.

According to John, this increase in the number of domain names is the result of PANDI's hard work in promoting .ID domain names, especially BIZ.ID and MY.ID through various events/socialization/competitions involving MSME business actors and various elements in society. "Apart from the various events/socialization/competitions held, the price adjustment for the BIZ.ID domain name also has an impact on increasing the number of BIZ.ID domain users," said John.

Furthermore, John also explained that PANDI continues to carry out various innovations so that the .id Domain can be used as a Digital Identity, including Blockchain technology. "In 2023, PANDI will work on various development projects to strengthen the .id Domain as a Digital Identity in Indonesia. "In addition to using Blockchain technology, PANDI is also developing the use of Balinese, Javanese and Pegon script as Second Level Domain (SLD) on the .id domain," said John.

"There are several .id domains that we have prepared to be used in Blockchain technology such as d.id, cb.id, btc.id, hns.id, eth.id, blockchain.id, space.id, galaxy.id, forever. ID and so on," added John.

  "In 2023, PANDI will also continue to take several steps to improve infrastructure to improve PANDI services, such as adding DNS nodes, improving the Mandiri Registry System (SRM) infrastructure which can accommodate 2 million domain names, implementing vulnerability assessment and so on," explained John.

John also added, PANDI will continue to boost the growth of .ID domain names. "In 2024, PANDI targets the growth of .id Domain Names to 1.2 million Domain Names so that they can become hosts in their own country, beating other TLDs (Top-Level Domains). "To achieve this, PANDI will continue to innovate and collaborate to strengthen .id domain services and invite all Indonesian people to use .id Domain Names," explained John.

John also explained that in the future it is hoped that PANDI will continue to develop as a Center of Excellence for the Domain Name industry and internet ecosystem. "PANDI is also expected to be able to develop as a training center for technology human resource development and as an example of Best Practice for implementing Domain Name Management and advanced internet technology. "This can be achieved by actively contributing to comprehensive research and collaborating with the academic world and stakeholders to build an advanced internet ecosystem," concluded John.

Apart from that, to support promotional or branding activities, especially for MSMEs, PANDI also provides innovations in the form of link shortener services, microsite s.id and the klip.id platform which are original link shortener and campaign platforms created by Indonesian children. “PANDI also provides shortener links, s.id microsite and klip.id platform. "This service is free of charge so that people can take advantage of the service features on s.id and klip.id to carry out promotions or branding in the digital world," said John.

  "Previously, PANDI has also signed an MoU with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) in order to support 30 million MSMEs Go Digital and an MoU with East Java ICT Volunteers regarding Digitalization and Use of the .id Domain in the East Java Region," concluded John.
